15th Gdańsk Shakespeare Festival

The 15the edition of the Gdańsk Shakespeare Festival boasts nine international performances from: Romania, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Great Britain, Lithuania and Poland.

5th Shakespeare Festival in Ostrava

The festivities in Ostrava this year will start with a production of The Taming of the Shrew directed by Daniel Špinar. For those who missed them last year, the festival will be restaging its successful Romeo and Juliet, The Merry Wives of Windsor and Henry IV.

7th Shakespeare Festival Gyula


The 7th Shakespeare Festival in Gyula welcomes two critically acclaimed productions: A Midsummer Night’s Dream by the South Korean Yohangza Theatre Company and Twelfth Night, or What You Will by the Georgian Rustavelli National Theatre directed by Robert Sturua. Also playing: Troilus and Cressida directed by Csaba Horváth, The Merchant of Venice directed by László Bocsárdi performed by the Theatre of Sepsiszentgyörgy (Sfântu Gheorghe). The world-famed Lithuania director Oskaras Korsunovas and his company will present their latest production, The Tempest. New to this year’s festivities is the Midsummer Wine’s Dream wine festival.

Lovers of Verona


To celebrate William Shakespeare’s 447th birthday, The Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre has invited Helena Modrzejewska Theatre of Legnica, Poland to present Lovers of Verona, based on Romeo and Juliet, directed by Jacek Głomb. This unique presentation will be held at the Old Tram Depot in the Dolne Miasto district of Gdańsk. Aside from a full professional cast, Jacek Głomb has decided to engage the residents of Dolne Miasto in minor parts.
